Fourteenth Annual Chicago Lung Run - Sunday, August 26, 2018 - Montrose Harbor

The Lung Run is one of the largest running events in the city, with more than 1,000 runners, lung cancer survivors, and representatives of leading Chicago hospitals participating.  For more details or sponsorship information, please contact info@lungrun.org.

  • 8:30 a.m.: 10K race*
  • 9:00 a.m.: 5K race and 1 mile walk

Gear Check

A designated gear check area will be available at the race site.


All registrants will receive an official race t-shirt. Race shirts are short-sleeve, unisex-sized, and available in XS - XL. Please select carefully as shirt sizes and quantities are fixed and we are unable to exchange shirt sizes.


The 5K and 10K runs are timed using transponder (D-tag) technology, providing an accurate time from start to finish line.

Race Course

  • View the course maps.
  • Water stations located at race start, approximate mid-point, and finish.
  • Strollers, bikes, skates, and dogs are prohibited from participating in the 10K and 5K portion of the event.

Transportation & Parking

To determine the best route to travel via public transportation, please visit the CTA's trip planner.

Limited parking is available in the Montrose Harbor Parking Lot, Wilson and Lawrence Parking Lots and on Simonds Drive. Standard meter parking rates apply. Exit Lake Shore Drive at Wilson Avenue, Lawrence Avenue, or Foster Avenue.


Awards will be given to the top three male and top three female finishers. The awards presentation will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m.


Results will be posted online on race day.

Weather Policy

The Lung Run will take place rain or shine. If we are required to cancel the event due to dangerous weather conditions, announcements will be made on race day at the start/finish area.

*The 2018 Chicago Lung Run 10k course will be managed for up to a 15 min/mile finish. All participants are expected to complete their selected race by this time.
